25 Years – Connected to the Ocean

oceanBASIS has its roots in marine biology. The ocean was our starting point; it became our field of research, a source of raw materials, and a source of inspiration for Oceanwell. 

That’s why it was clear to us from the very beginning: Those who use the ocean also bear the responsibility to preserve it. 

Since 2015, we have invested more than 50,000 € in marine conservation projects through our “Protect the Ocean” initiative. Out of love for the ocean.

Ocean Conservation-Here’s What We’re Doing

We want to inspire a love for the ocean and show why healthy oceans are important for all of us. 

In September, we’re supporting the Ozeankind Summer Camp 2026. For one week, five school classes from Kiel will experience the Baltic Sea up close, snorkel with marine biologists, and learn how each and every one of us can protect the ocean. Unsere Geschichte

Aus Forschung
wurde Überzeugung

Der Ursprung von oceanBASIS liegt in jahrelanger angewandter Meeresforschung. 1994 gründen Levent Piker, Peter Krost, Christian Koch und Susanne Heise (heute Professorin an der HAW-Hamburg) das Schwesterunternehmen CRM – Coastal Research & Management. Sechs Jahre intensiver Forschung, die erste Algenfarm Deutschlands und ein klares Ziel: den Wert der Meere greifbar machen.

2001 war es soweit: Mit einer eigenen Extraktionstechnik und dem Wissen aus der Kieler Förde entsteht mit Unterstützung von Inez Linke die oceanBASIS GmbH — damals mit vier Pionieren, heute mit über 20 Überzeugten.

Mit der Entwicklung einer schonenden Extraktionstechnik für Laminaria-Algen entsteht die Grundlage für alles, was folgt: zertifizierte Naturkosmetik, Meeresnahrung und globalen Meeresschutz — aus der Kieler Förde heraus.

Vorausgegangen waren mutige Jahre mit CRM (gegr. 1994) und der ersten deutschen Algenfarm (2000) — Pionierarbeit, die oceanBASIS erst möglich machte.

1994Vorgeschichte
Gründung CRM

Levent Piker, Peter Krost, Susanne Heise und Christian Koch gründen CRM – Coastal Research & Management und führen Gutachten im Bereich Küstenzonenmanagement durch. Der Grundstein für alles Folgende ist gelegt.

2000Vorgeschichte
Erste Algenfarm Deutschlands

In der Kieler Förde entsteht die erste deutsche Algenfarm mit der naturstoffreichen Braunalge Laminaria saccharina — ein Meilenstein für nachhaltige Aquakultur.

Entwicklung einer eigenen Extraktionstechnik: Wertvolle Inhaltsstoffe von Laminaria-Algen werden schonend und unter Erhalt der Bioaktivität gewonnen. Geburtsstunde der späteren oceanBASIS GmbH.

Markteinführung Baltic Care°

Die Naturkosmetik Baltic Care° kommt in Kosmetikstudios und Wellness-Centern in Schleswig-Holstein auf den Markt — der erste kommerzielle Schritt.

2004
Ausdehnung der Forschung

Forschung an neuen Extraktionstechniken und Wirkungen von Inhaltsstoffen. Ausdehnung der Naturstoffforschung auf ozeanisches Kollagen.

2006
Antiviral & Antibakteriell

Forschung an antiviralen und antibakteriellen Wirkungen von Algen beginnt — Grundlagenarbeit, die das wissenschaftliche Fundament des Unternehmens erheblich vertieft.

2008
Umfirmierung zu oceanBASIS

O'Well – Ocean Wellness wird zu oceanBASIS umfirmiert. Ein neuer Name für eine gewachsene Vision.

2009Schlüsseljahr
Start Oceanwell & Neue Algenfarm & Anti-Krebs-Forschung

Start der Oceanwell Professional.Line. Auf 6.000 m² nimmt eine neue Algen-/Muschelfarm mit Langleinen-Technik vor Kiel-Pries den Betrieb auf. Markteinführung der Oceanwell Basic.Line mit NATRUE-Zertifizierung. Start der Krebsforschung mit Algenwirkstoffen mit dem Uni-Klinikum Schleswig-Holstein

2010
Patentanmeldung Ozeanisches Kollagen

Das selbst entwickelte Quallenkollagen wird patentiert.

2012
Launch OceanCollagen-Linie

Die OceanCollagen-Linie wird gelauncht — die Kollagen-Forschung von 2004 trägt ihre erste Produktfrucht.

2015Schlüsseljahr
Protect the Ocean & Meeresgarten

Launch der Biomarine Cellsupport-Linie. Gründung des Geschäftsfelds ocean food mit der Marke „Meeresgarten". Start der Initiative „Protect the Ocean" — Pilotprojekt: Schildkrötenschutz in Côte d'Ivoire.

2017
Unternehmerin des Jahres & Relaunch

Inez Linke wird Unternehmerin des Jahres in Schleswig-Holstein. Relaunch der Oceanwell-Website und Verpackungen. Die Biomarine Cellsupport Nourishing Cream erhält den 2. Platz des BSB Innovation Price.

2018
Erweiterung des Vertriebsteams

Das Vertriebsteam wächst — neue Köpfe, neue Märkte, wachsende Nachfrage nach mariner Naturkosmetik aus Kiel.

2020
Export, Geisternetze & Shop-Relaunch

Ausweitung des Exports nach Hongkong. „Protect the Ocean" unterstützt die Bergung von Geisternetzen in der Ostsee. Relaunch des Oceanwell-Shops.

2021
Erste Gemeinwohlökonomie-Bilanzierung

oceanBASIS bekennt sich zur Gemeinwohl-Ökonomie.

2023
Shop und Website werden eins

Oceanwell und Meeresgarten fusionieren in einem gemeinsamen Shop. Image-Seiten und Shop-Funktionen werden unter oceanwell.de zusammengefasst.

2025
Oceanwell goes Austria and Switzerland

Oceanwell in der Schweiz und in Österreich mit exklusiven Vertriebspartnern.

2026Heute
